Excerpts from the Acknowledgements pages, at the end of the "Kibbutz+Bauhaus" book:

...

First of all, I am deeply indebted to Bruno Zevi, to whom I revealed my strong doubts about the proposal from the beginning - I feared that an architect, trying all his life to express his ideas in bricks and concrete, could not mould into words the record of his aspirations and tribulations. And, I wondered, even if I could succeed in writing each narrative, would it be a positive contribution to building and planning in Israel? Bruno Zevi not only encouraged me, he also dealt in many stimulating discussions with every problem that arose. In his characteristic way, he would get at the core of the problem through penetrating analysis, and, at the same time, would stimulate my enthusiasm through his unfailing support.

My thanks go to Philip Gillon, who edited the book. His knowledge of the social and spiritual climate of Israel, his understanding of our architectural troubles and endeavours, and his light and humorous approach to my architectural "Weltanschauung" brought us together in a harmonious and rewarding partnership that made the writing of the book a pleasure instead of the chore I had feared.

A good picture is worth a thousand words: a good graphic layout is worth many thousands. The layout of a book can create a visual language of its own in drawings, photographs and captions. My friend Naf Avnon was my constant advisor on problems of design; he was ready at all times to help in the search for solutions of the graphics problems that arose.

Last, but certainly by no means least, comes my daughter, Yael Aloni, who was responsible for the graphic design, and who contributed many ideas for the text. Without her great ability and tireless energy, the book would never have been brought to fruition.
